Bellydance Day 2005!
Khamsa Fi Ainik!

The Beledi Club's Bellydance Day took place at the Madison Karate studio this year. As always, I offered free henna for the event using the khamsa patterns from Catherine Cartwright-Jones' paper Id al-Adha: The Ecological and Nutritional Impact of the Muslim Feast of Sacrifice, and the Significance of Henna in this Sacrifice" since they protect wearers from evil and don't give anyone the chance to hog time. I had planned to offer the free henna as always and have some charged designs available, but I had no helper and it was a trial just keeping track of who wanted henna on my own. I didn't get to sell anything because I was so busy hennaing and no one wanted to bother me! Still though, it was a fun event as always, even though I didn't get to participate in any of the dancing.
